41-year-old UFC veteran Jacare Souza is a legendary grappler, with 10 jiu-jitsu world championships to indicate for it.
And so, when fellow Brazilian Andre Muniz declared this week that he was a greater grappler than Souza, the combined martial arts world was surprised.
However Muniz simply crushed Souza with a first-round submission at UFC 262 – snapping Souza’s arm in sickening style alongside the way in which.
Muniz recovered from an early take-down to take down Souza twice in fast succession. The second time, Souza’s arm bought trapped below Muniz’s physique as they went to the canvas, inflicting a loud cracking noise earlier than the referee stepped in at 3:59.

Muniz stated: “I heard it snap. I let go, not solely out of respect, I’m from jiu-jitsu I knew I might damage it much more if I didn’t let it go.”
“He’s my idol,” Muniz added. “I hope he’s good.”
Souza barely flinched regardless of the obvious damaged arm, smiling and hugging his countryman after the bout.
The loss was Souza’s first-ever by submission, however his fourth-straight defeat within the octagon.
Muniz has now gained seven straight and 15 from his 16 most up-to-date bouts, with 18 finishes from 21 wins.
Amy Kaplan tweeted “holy moly!” whereas UFC star Tatiana Suarez wrote: “OMG I heard a snap. I really feel sick.”
Commentator Joe Rogan stated: “Oh my God he broke his arm.”
