Paul Jones: Former Wales B and Llanelli lock dies aged 49

Former Wales B worldwide second-row Paul Jones has died on the age of 49.

Bridgend-born Jones performed for Llanelli, Newport and Caerphilly in addition to having a spell in England with Leeds.

Nicknamed ‘Stretch’, the 6ft 6in lock made 74 appearances for Llanelli between 1992 and 1996, scoring 15 tries.

He performed for Caerphilly within the closing of the 2003 European Defend in opposition to Castres at Studying’s Madejski Stadium.

Former Wales internationals Jonathan Davies and Rupert Moon had been amongst these to pay tribute to Jones on social media, together with former worldwide rugby union referee James Jones, who described him as a “nice man”.

The golf equipment he represented additionally paid tribute to the previous Brynteg faculty pupil.

Caerphilly RFC stated they had been devastated to listen to about his passing saying: “Our ideas and love are along with his household and pals at this unhappy time. Paul was a popular, proficient and influential participant at Caerphilly for quite a few years.”
